Florida residents watching Matt Lauer’s divorce play out

by | May 17, 2018 | Prenuptial Agreements

Many people have followed the career of Matt Lauer for decades. The once popular host of NBC’s “Today” show has recently lost a great deal of public support following allegations of sexual misconduct in the workplace. Those accusations also led to Lauer being fired from his extremely well-paid position hosting the show, and may have been behind his wife’s decision to file for divorce. Many Florida residents are curious about how the couple will move through the divorce process.

Matt Lauer has been married to his now-estranged wife Annette Roque, for more than 20 years. The couple’s relationship has weathered ups and downs, and Roque filed for divorce in 2006, only to withdraw her petition just weeks later. She was also rumored to have been discussing divorce options as recently as 2014.

It appears that in this case, the third time may be the absolute last strike. If so, the couple will likely focus on dividing the estimated $100 million Lauer has earned over the course of his career at NBC. In recent years, his salary is reported at nearly $25 million per year. The couple owns at least three homes, as well as additional assets.

In many cases, celebrity couples are able to resolve their divorce differences outside of court. However, that is not always the case. If the acrimony between Lauer and Roque overrules their desire for privacy, their divorce could become a public spectacle. That may mean that some Florida residents will have far greater insight into the their financial standing as well as personal details regarding their marriage and divorce.
