DUI charges during a vacation

On Behalf of | Jan 3, 2020 | blog

During the holiday season, many people travel to different parts of the country in order to visit family members or go on a trip with their own family. People also like to travel during many other times of the year, such as spring break and the summer. During these trips, some people drink a bit of alcohol, whether they have a couple of beers at a family party or they drink with some of their friends in a hotel bar. However, if they get behind the wheel, this can lead to DUI charges that turn their lives upside down in various ways.

There are a lot of different factors to realize when it comes to DUI charges. For example, the laws and penalties vary from one state to the next, so some people are in a particularly tough position (depending on where they were when they pulled over). There are also quite a few reasons why drivers may be especially likely to face DUI charges while they are taking a vacation. For example, some may be very tired, and their fatigue may impact their driving, which could attract the attention of a law enforcement official. Or, they behave erratically on the road because they are not familiar with the area.

Not only can DUI charges destroy a vacation, but they can cause many problems back home as well. If you were recently stopped for driving under the influence while you were out of town, make sure that you understand what your legal options are and approach your case correctly.
